Hero Levels

Upgrading a hero costs EXP, and the cost curve is steep — but the bigger constraint for most players isn’t EXP at all. It’s your Base level.

Base level gating

The minimum Base level required to level up a hero increases by 1 for every 5 hero levels. To reach the hero level cap of 150, your Base needs to reach level 30 first. In practice this means a hero can sit fully-EXP’d and ready to level up while waiting on a Base upgrade that has nothing to do with heroes at all.

The EXP curve is exponential, not linear

Early levels are cheap — a few hundred EXP each. By the mid-game the cost is in the thousands (level 30 costs 24.0K), and by the late game a single level can cost tens of millions (level 90 costs 20.0M). The jump from “a few hundred” to “tens of millions” happens across the same 150-level track, which is why EXP that felt abundant early on can start to feel scarce once your main squad reaches the higher levels — the curve, not your income, is what changed.

Why this changes your priorities

Because Base level — not EXP — is what blocks your next hero level past a certain point, pure EXP farming stops being the priority on its own. Building your city consistently (Base upgrades and whatever prerequisite buildings gate them) is what keeps your main squad’s level cap moving. A player who stockpiles EXP but neglects Base progression will eventually hit a wall where every main-squad hero is capped out and waiting on the city, not the other way around.

Where Hero EXP comes from

Hero EXP should go almost entirely into your main five heroes rather than spread across bench heroes “just in case” — that delays your main squad. The main sources worth checking regularly:

• Radar
• AFK rewards
• Special Operations
• Campaign progression
• Arena rewards
• Events
• Passes
