“Squad Buff” refers to the formation bonus a squad gets from running multiple heroes of the same type together. Heroes come in a small number of types, and stacking more of one type in a single squad grants that squad a bonus to HP, attack, and defense that scales up as you add more of the same type — reportedly reaching its maximum once all five squad slots share a type.
How to build toward it
- Early on, don’t force this — fill your two tank and three attacker slots with your strongest available heroes first, regardless of type. Winning fights matters more than chasing the bonus while your roster is still small.
- As your roster of Legendary heroes grows, start consolidating toward three of one type, then four, then a full five, since each step up increases the bonus.
- Once you have a full set of five Legendary heroes sharing a type, community guidance suggests splitting them into their own dedicated squad rather than keeping them mixed elsewhere.
Long-term, the typical goal is to build multiple dedicated single-type squads (one per hero type you invest in) rather than stopping at one generalist squad.
